Pontiac Astre Pro Stocker Invades IHRA Territory

Bristol, TN. – Pro Stock fans across the land are in for a treat this year with a hauling Pro Stock Pontiac Astre from Canada scheduled to invade the IHRA ranks of “Southern Style,” get it on type drag racing, and baby, this one ain’t no slouch either. The little beauty made its first outing at Darlington some time ago and amazingly enough dumbfounded the ‘rail-birds’ with several blistering runs.

The Canadian entry, is the proud property of Robert W. Elliott, of Cambridge, Ontario, and is a masterpiece of workmanship, powered by a 470 c.i. Chevy engine, and built by Performance Engineering in Toronto.

IHRA enthusiast may look for the little beauty at each of the remaining IHRA National events, including the upcoming Valvoline Pro Am Nationals at Rockingham International Dragway, April 28-29-30, Dixie Nationals, etc.

Last year the little 1977 Astre ran in B/A and ran a best of 8.62 seconds – 159 mph. Robert Elliott said recently, “We are anticipating 8.20 – 8.30 clocking, and I intend to concentrate on the remaining IHRA National events, plus some match race bookings in Canada and the U.S. of A.,” Elliott concluded.

It is a pleasure to welcome all racers from Canada to visit the IHRA races and sanctioned tracks around the country, and especially we wish great success to the little Pro Stock Astre of “Bob” Elliott and his crew.
