Bob Elliott & the Northern Force
Leave Their Mark on History

Bob Elliott’s original Northern Force fire suit gets its place in history, along with other drag racing memorabilia in the Canadian Motorsport Hall of Fame.

April 1, 2005, Wingham, Ontario, Canada
Legendary Canadian drag racer Bob Elliott of Wingham, Ontario now has his original funny car fire-suit on display at the Canadian Motorsport Hall Of Fame in Toronto Ontario. Elliott, who has been nominated for induction into the Hall Of Fame, had a popular and successful career behind the wheel of his Northern Force Funny Cars and is one of only a select few drivers in the world to have competed in all three styles of funny car: jet turbine, methanol and nitro-methane powered.

Elliott, whose marketing team is currently working on funding to return the Northern Force Racing program to the peak of international drag racing competition, stated; “I am so proud to be a part of this tribute to Canadian motor sports. When the curator, Tim Miller, called to see if I had my original suit and asked if I would be interested in donating it to the Hall Of Fame I was truly honoured.”

The suit, still in its original form from the last time it was worn down the quarter mile is accompanied by a written description and photo, enabling all visitors of the hall to better understand the significance of this equipment in motor sports. When looking at it Elliott said “It looks like something out of the Middle Ages but this old beauty kept me safe for many 200 mile per hour passes down the quarter mile. I was, however, happy to have improved technology as my cars approached the 300 mile per hour mark.”

Bob Elliott’s fire-suit is part of an expanding exhibit featuring drag racing memorabilia that will include a working ‘christmas-tree’ and one of the original timing systems used to monitor speed and elapsed time at the race track.
