ELLIOTT TO CHASE CANADIAN NHRA CHAMPIONSHIP
APR 29

Jory Elliott is no stranger to high-stakes racing competition, having most recently won his Super Stock class eliminations at the NHRA Division 1 event in Gainesville, Florida in March of 2025, and in 2012 he won the IHRA Canadian Nationals in Grand Bend, Ontario.

He and his Canadian Motorsport and Canadian Drag Racing hall of fame inducted dad, Bob, plan to take their legendary Northern Force drag racing team on the road this summer to chase the NHRA Canadian Championship in the Super Comp category.

“We bought this dragster in the middle of the 2025 season and had a chance to run it against the best competition in the world at the NHRA divisional event in Indianapolis, and then right here at home in Ontario at Toronto Motorsports Park”, said Jory. “The car is a proven winner, and performed well last season, but has been updated significantly during the off-season to help us find the consistency we’ll need to take a shot at this championship.”

The Canadian series hosts 14 races (7 double event weekends) in Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, with a competitor's top seven points finishes counting towards their championship total.

“The way this series is built, it allows racers from the East Coast and Ontario to compete for a championship without ever having to race in either of those provinces”, noted Elliott. “We don’t have any financial support from a marketing partner at this point, so we’ve got a budget that will allow us to attend the 10 events in Ontario and Quebec, giving us some runway to rack up a solid points score.”

NHRA, the preeminent drag racing sanctioning body in the world, presents the John Scotti Canadian National Open Series which gets its start on the Victoria Day weekend at Toronto Motorsports Park, followed by events in Luskville, Quebec in mid-June, and Napierville, Quebec in mid-July. The series then heads to the East Coast for four events, before returning to Toronto Motorsports Park on the Labour Day Weekend. It all wraps up with the series finale just a week later, back in Napierville, Quebec.

The team will start its chase for the championship on Victoria Day weekend by showcasing its S.T.E.M. at Speed program for 500+ high school students during the NHRA Youth Education Services event the morning of Friday, May 15, followed by an official test session that afternoon.

Anyone interested in following along with the team's 2026 season, getting involved as a marketing partner, or hosting a S.T.E.M. at Speed event, can contact Jory here.
