Elliott Claims Season Opening NHRA Event Championships
MAY 22
Jory Elliott, driving his family's Northern Force Racing Dragster, completed the double-up this past weekend at the season-opening NHRA Canadian National Open Series events at Toronto Motorsports Park.
Competing in the Super Comp division, Elliott took the top qualifying position during both Saturday and Sunday’s races, and parked the team’s 2005 Undercover dragster in the winners circle for both events, taking home two NHRA 75th anniversary diamond ‘Wally’ trophies.
“This was really the first weekend the car responded to the changes we’ve made racing in Super Comp trim”, mentioned Jory. “So to take the top spot in qualifying both days and drive the car to two wins, really shows that the work we did in the off-season moved us in the right direction.”
With the double-up, Elliott takes the points lead for the John Scotti Classic Cars sponsored NHRA Canadian National Open Series into the next event in Luskville, Quebec, June 19-21.
On top of the incredible success on-track, the team also debuted its S.T.E.M. at Speed school program in front of 650+ high school students during the NHRA Y.E.S. event at the track on Friday morning.
“We had tons of kids and adults interacting with the STEM keyword search, that took them on a learning journey around the race car, and the kids really took to building and racing mini dragsters right there in our display”, noted Elliott.
