S.T.E.M. AT SPEED SCHOOL PROGRAM LAUNCHING IN MAY
APR 15
Led by driver and team manager, Jory Elliott, legendary drag racing team Northern Force Racing is set to bring its S.T.E.M. at Speed motorsports based program to schools in the London region this spring.
The program will make its debut on Friday, May 15 during the NHRA Youth Education Services event at Toronto Motorsports Park, near Simcoe, Ontario. This format, delivered at NHRA events throughout North America, will immerse upwards of 700 high school students in trades and STEM related activities throughout the morning. That experience will be followed by an official test session for the NHRA Canadian National Open Series season opener, which the Northern Force team will participate in.
Jory, a professional hockey coach, internationally accomplished motorsports competitor, summer camp professional, and mental health initiative founder, has led the development of the program and the first two lessons it will deliver; Aerodynamics and Power Application.
“Our dragster is the perfect vehicle to showcase these two S.T.E.M. related topics to kids of any age”, stated Jory. “With its sleek design and nearly 1000 horsepower engine, there’s nothing that could provide the visual connection to these topics any better.”
The program will be available to schools based on their budgets and participant numbers, and will offer 1.5 hour or 3 hour program blocks that include multi-media presentations, hands-on activities for students, and a live race car demonstration.
“The interactive activities we have planned for S.T.E.M. at Speed are going to engage kids in ways that other science and math programs simply can’t”, noted Elliott. “From dynamic presentations and hands-on activities in the classroom setting, to having the kids interact with the race car, bringing the lesson full circle, we’re going to create a lot of excitement and incredible memories for everyone.”
S.T.E.M. at Speed is currently taking requests for appearances in the months of May & June, and those with interest should connect with Jory via stematspeed.com
